This peer facilitated workshop will engage students in experiential learning and dialogue around issues to help participants develop skills for taking care of themselves (restoring and creating protective factors for resiliency) and advocating for the well-being of other marginalized students. Students who register for this session will receive the e-text book, on a first come first serve basis until all available copies are distributed.

Writing for Rest and Restoration
Join Ashanti Files, Urbana’s 2021 Poet Laureate and Founder of Writers of Oya, for an interactive discussion about her personal story, writing journey, and how she uses writing as a tool for restoration and care. Participants will be invited to participate in a writing exercise, and are asked to come with a writing utensil and paper, a piece of fruit or candy, and an energetic open mind.
