Community College Survey of Student Engagement: Expanding Research Possibilities
The Center for Community College Student Engagement (the Center) has the largest data set on student engagement among community colleges in the United States. To facilitate more in-depth analysis of these data, the Center is launching a Research Affiliates program and inviting any researchers interested in accessing national Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) survey data to join the program. During this webinar, we will present the benefits of joining the program, including a level of data access that has rarely been available to outside researchers. A demonstration of the wide range of research that can be conducted with CCSSE data will be presented, and we will discuss our experience using data from the 2018 CCSSE academic mindset, paired with IPEDS data to conduct research on academic mindset, the additional item set for CCSSE in 2018. We will provide an example of studying relationships among academic mindset, self-reported GPA, and student demographics, including age, ethnicity, gender, and military status using the combined CCSSE and IPEDS data.
